Fotoverslag korte reizen

Van de kortere reizen maken we een fotoverslag in plaats van een blog. Dit is een korte impressie van wat u zoal ter plaatse kunt doen aangevuld met wat praktische informatie. Aangezien we enkel de plaatsen beschrijven waar we zelfs geweest zijn is dit geen volledig overzicht van alle toeristische mogelijkheden. Onze fotoverslagen zijn 2-talig (Nederlands en Engels). Wij hopen dat onze fotoverslagen u zullen inspireren.

Photo report short trips

From short trips we will create a photo report instead of a blog. This is a short impression of interesting sights and activities. As we will only list the places where we have been ourselves this list will not be a complete overview of all touristic possibilities. Our photo reports are 2-lingual (Dutch and English). Roadtrip met onze Toyota Landcruiser. Heen- en terugreis naar Sicilië met de ferry van Genua naar Palermo.

Road trip with our Toyota Landruiser. To get to Sicily we took the ferry from Genua to Palermo

1. Palermo

Het is de hoofdstad en voor ons ook de plek waar de veerboot aankomst. Palermo heeft twee kanten. Mooie gotische gebouwen, drukke straatmarkten en meer restaurantjes dan je kunt tellen maar er is ook minstens zo veel vervuiling en drukte. Palermo lijkt wel een grote verkeersopstopping. Het ritje van de haven naar de ringweg, slechts een paar kilometer, kost ons bijna twee uur. Palermo staat in ieder geval niet op ons lijstje van mooiste steden. Wat we wel erg interessant vonden was het No Mafia Memorial. Het is een museum waar je met foto's (sommige heel gruwelijk) en verhalen kunt zien en lezen hoe de maffia het eiland en haar bewoners in de ban hield.

2. Sferracavallo

Dorpje niet ver van Palermo. Wij hebben hier overnacht op camping Degli Ulivi. Een prettige plek met een bakker om de hoek, het station vanwaar je de trein naar Palermo kunt nemen op loopafstand en een kleine promenade met diverse restaurantjes. Sferracavallo heeft geen highlights of bijzondere gebouwen toch vonden wij het een leuker dorpje. Het heeft een kleinschalig en gemoedelijk karakter. Een prima plek als je Palermo wilt bezoeken maar niet in de drukte wilt overnachten. Hou er wel rekening mee dat je niet de enige bent die hier wil overnachten. De camping is niet erg groot en reserveren is aan te bevelen. We hebben er velen weggestuurd zien worden.

4. San Vito lo Campo en omgeving

San Vito lo Capo is een toeristische badplaats op het noordwestelijke puntje van het eiland. Niet ver hier ligt camping village El Bahira. Een prima camping met voor de deur een klein strandje vanwaar je een prachtig uitzicht hebt op de ondergaande zon. Vanaf de camping lopen enkele leuke wandelpaden. Wil je echt de natuur in bezoek dan het nabij gelegen Zingaro Nature Reserve.

5. Erice

Op de top van een 750 meter hoge berg, ligt het karakteristieke middeleeuwse dorpje Erice. Tussen oude stadsmuren muren vind je kleine straatjes en pleinen, bijzondere monumenten, vele oude kerken en gebouwen en het kasteel van Venus. Om er te komen kun je de kabelbaan vanuit Trapani nemen maar ook met de auto is het goed bereikbaar. Om er te komen heb je de keus uit diverse routes. Komend vanuit het noorden is er de SR1. Die route is op sommige plekken best steil met enkele scherpe haarspeldbochten. Wij hebben deze op de heenreis genomen. Heb je een zware auto is het misschien prettiger deze weg bergopwaarts te rijden in plaats van bergafwaarts. Vanuit het zuiden kun je kiezen tussen de SP31 en de SP3. De SP31 is de meest bereden van de twee en het minst steil.

6. Zoutvlakten

Het westen van Sicilië is onlosmakelijk verbonden met zoutwinning. Rondom Trapani en Marsala vind je de bekendste zoutvlaktes. Basins met zoutwater, bergen met geoogst zout en windmolens typeren het het landschap hier.

10. Valley of the Temples

Een enorme archeologische (Unesco) site en één van de belangrijkste wereldwijd. Er zijn meerdere bijzondere overblijfselen, maar de meest indrukwekkende is de Concordia tempel. Deze is nog in uitzonderlijk goede staat. Om de plek te bezoeken kun je kiezen uit twee ingangen. De Noordwestelijke ingang ligt het dichtst bij de Concordia tempel. Kamperen deden we Camping Valle dei Templi. Los van het feit dat de camping dicht bij de archelogische ligt, is het wat ons betreft geen aanrader.

7. Marsala

Redelijk grote stad op het westelijke puntje van het eiland dat voornamelijk bekend is om de beroemde Marsalawijn. Het oude centrum is overzichtelijk en een bezoekje zeker waard. Kamperen deden we bij Lylibeo village. Een heerlijk plekje net buiten de stad.

8. Selinunte

Selinunte is de Italiaanse naam voor de Oudgriekse stad Selinous; een omvangrijke stad die grote rijkdom kende. Veel van de gebouwen zijn ruines waarvan in het beste geval kleine restjes zichtbaar zijn. Maar twee ervan zijn prachtig gerestaureerd. Kom je er op de eerste zondag van de maand dan is de entree gratis.

9. Turkse trappen

Scala dei Turchi, de Italiaanse naam voor dit natuurlijk fenomeen betekent letterlijk vertaald "trap van de Turken". Het verwijst naar de Saraceense piraten die de Siciliaanse kust ooit plunderden. De rotswand waarvan de door wind en water uitgesleten riggels lijken op traptreden is ontstaan uit marl; een gesteente rijk aan kalk en klei. Het zijn spektaculair witte rotsen die prachtig afsteken tegen de azuurblauwe zee.

16. Vendicari Nature Reserve

Natuurreservaat met een rijke flora en fauna waaronder veel vogels, een heerlijk strand met goede snorkelmogelijheden en de iconische restanten van een oude tonijnfabriek. Vlakbij de ingang zit een klein restaurantje waar het heerlijk toeven is in de schaduw van grote citroenbomen. Ze hebben er heerlijke broodjes. Kamperen deden we bij Camping Sabbiadoro.

Een mooie, schone en comfortabele camping met voor de deur een leuk strand. Het enige nadeel vonden wij de bijzonder onaardige eigenaar.

11. Ragusa

12. Camping Scarabeo

Ragusa is een mooie stad en zeker een bezoek waard. Vooral Ragusa Ibla het historische gedeelte is een bijzonder stadsdeel. Voor een indrukwekkende start van je bezichtiging neem de route vanuit het nieuwe centrum naar Ragusa Ibla. Het is een korte maar smalle steile weg met enkele scherpe bochten en een prachtig uitzicht. Kamperen deden we op camping Scarabeo. Een dure camping maar erg schoon en met een prachtige ligging direct aan zee. Een aanrader!

13. Scicli

Charmant stadje met vele historische barokke gebouwen.

14. La Fornace Penna

Een stukje industrieel archeologisch erfgoed. Vlakbij Sampieri staat de iconishe ruine van een oude tonijnfabriek.

15. Spiaggia delle Correnti & Camping Captain

Spiaggia delle Correnti betekent vertaald "strand van de stromingen". Een naam die het dankt aan het feit dat hier, op het meest zuidelijke puntje van Sicilië, de Ionische zee en de Middellandse zee samenkomen.

Wie vanaf hier naar het zuiden vaart komt in Afrika weer aan land. Het is een winderige maar heerlijke plek met prachtig uitzicht op de ondergaande zon, een mooi strand en enkele leuke strandbarretjes. Voor de kust ligt een klein eilandje met een nog werkende vuurtoren. Het eilandje is te bereiken via een stenen pad dat afhankelijk van het getijde meestal geheel of gedeeltje onder water ligt. Voor wie hier naar toe wil is eigen vervoer een must aangezien er geen openbaar vervoer verbinding is. Kamperen deden we bij Camping Captain. Een enorme camping die we in oktober bijna helemaal voor onszelf hadden. Niet bijzonder luxe maar de ligging en het uitzicht maken alles goed.

26. Cefalu

Cefalu is wat ons betreft een van de mooiste dorpjes op het eiland. Het prachtige oude centrum, dat op de Werelderfgoedlijst van Unesco staat is een wirwar van kleine straatjes, oude kerken, gezellige pleinen, een bijzonder badhuis en vele gevels met doorkijkjes op het azuurblauwe water en de mooie stranden. Net als overal op het eiland geldt ook hier dat een vroege start de grootste garantie biedt op het vinden van een parkeerplaats want één ding is zeker; je bent hier niet alleen. Ook Cefalu is supertoeristisch en druk bezocht. Mocht je overnachten op Camping Sanfilippo of het naast gelegen Camping Costa Ponente dan kun je je auto laten staan aangezien er vanaf de camping een bus naar het centrum vertrekt. Wij hebben overnacht op Camping Sanfilippo. Een prachtige camping, goed sanitair en een kleine baai recht voor de deur. Zeker een aanrader.

17. Syracuse

Het was ooit één van de rijkste steden uit de Griekse periode en volgens velen de mooiste stad van Sicilië. De stad staat niet voor niets op de Werelderfgoedlijst van Unesco. Hoogtepunt voor ons is het historische gedeelte gelegen op het eiland Ortigia dat met enkele bruggen verbonden is met het vasteland. Dit deel van de stad is een aaneenschakeling van kneuterige straatjes, mooie pleinen, historische gebouwen en imposante overblijfselen uit de oudheid. Nadeel van al deze schoonheid is een enorme stroom toeristen. Wil je parkeerproblemen voorkomen ga dan vooral niet te laat.

18. Camping Mokambo

Camping Mokambo is een goede locatie voor een bezoek aan de Etna. Vanaf de camping heb je een geweldig uitzicht op Etna en tegenover de camping is een kiezelstrand.  

19. Mount Etna

De Etna is een van de grootste vulkanen van Europa met en bestaan uit meerdere kraters. Op dit moment zijn er vijf actief. Vanuit de kraters stijgen bijna altijd rookpluimen op en heel soms komt het zelfs tot een kleine uitbarsting en zijn lava-fonteinen zichtbaar.

Er zijn diverse manier op de vulkaan te bezichtigen. De meeste hotels en campings bieden excursies aan. Ben je met de auto dan zijn er twee routes. Etna Nord en Etna Sud. Etna Sud is de meest toeristische en ook de plek waar je de kabelbaan vindt.  Deze vertrekt vanuit Rifugio Sapienza en neemt je mee naar 2500 meter hoogte. Daar staan vervolgens gidsen op je te wachten die je meenemen in off-road bussen naar 3000 meter. Het laatste stukje gaat te voet. Afhankelijk van de omstandigheden nemen de gidsen je vervolgens mee en klim je nog een stukje hoger voor een mooi zicht op de vulkaan. Ondanks dat we maar een klein stukje hebben gewandeld was dit nog een behoorlijke inspanning. De hoogte, de losse ondergrond en de zwavelwolken maakten dat we regelmatig even een paar tellen op adem moesten komen. Maar goed dat we ons niet hebben laten verleiden tot een langere hike. Een combinatieticket voor de kabelbaan, 4x4 bus en wandeling koop je bij het ticketloket van de kabelbaan. Wil je de lange rijen een beetje voor zijn ga dan vroeg in de ochtend. Hier ben je zeker niet alleen maar laat je niet afschrikken. Het is een geweldige ervaring en de uitzichten geweldig. En heb je na dit uitstapje nog geen genoeg van de Etna dan zijn er nog meerdere kleine kraters en vele lavagrotten te bezoeken.

20. Alcantara kloof

In de omgeving van de Etna, ligt het Gole Alcantara Parco Botanico e Geologico waarin je de bijzondere Alcantara kloof vindt. Na een vulkaanuitbarsting van een zijkrater van de Etna, zo'n 2400 BC, werd het dal waar de rivier Alcantara doorheen loopt bedoven onder laag lava. Een aardbeving echter zorgde ervoor dat de lavalaag spleet en er een 500 meter lange kloof ontstond. De Alcantara rivier stroomt nog steeds door de kloof. Het is een prachtige omgeving met hoge wanden van basalt met bijzondere rotsformaties en kraakhelder water. Je kunt er een wandeling maken maar er zijn ook actievere activiteiten waaronder body rafing. Om de bodem van de kloof te bereiken kun je met een trap of met de lift. Overnachten deden we op camping Almoetia. Een rustig gelegen campsite. We vonden het een heerlijk plekje.

21. Taormina

Taormina is één van de dorpjes op het eiland die streven naar de titel mooiste dorp van Sicilië en dat is niet zonder reden. Het ligt gelegen op een heuvel vanwaar je een geweldig uitzicht hebt en binnen de stadsmuren bevindt zich een prachtig oud centrum dat volledig autovrij is. Het is een wirwar aan karakteristieke straatjes, oude middeleeuwse huizen en zelfs een oud amfitheater. Wie dat laatste wil bezoek heeft geduld nodig want de rij voor de entree was zo lang dat wij niet eens een poging hebben gewaagd. Taormina was een van drukte steden die we hebben bezocht. Je kun er bijna letterlijk over de koppen lopen. Om het oude autovrije centrum te bereiken kun je de gondel omhoog nemen of de pendelbus die vanaf de parkeerplaats vertrekt en je afzet bij de oude stadspoort.

22. Messina

Grootste stad in het Noordoosten van het eiland. Dit deel van het eiland ligt het dichtst bij het vasteland. We hebben de stad zelf niet bezocht. Wel hadden we het voornemen in de omgeving te overnachten maar dat hebben we uiteindelijk niet gedaan. We vonden de omgeving weinig interessant en veel natuurschoon was er ook niet.

23. Capo di Milazzo - Camping Riva Smeralda

Terrassencamping op het schiereiland Capo di Milazzo. De camping heeft een eigen duikschool en vooral na zonsondergang een prachtig uitzicht op het vasteland. Omringd door kraakhelder water, een kasteel en een mooi strand is het schiereiland een bezoekje meer dan waard. Wij hebben overnacht op camping Riva Smeralda. Het uizicht was het grootste en wat ons betreft ook enige pluspunt. Wij vonden het vooral veel vergane glorie.

24. Marinello lagoon

De Lagune van Marinello is een prachtig stukje beschermd natuurschoon. Een smalle strook wit zand scheidt de zee van de baai met helder ondiep en azuurblauw water. Daar achter gescheiden door kiezelbanken en aan de voet van steile rotswand liggen enkele kleine semi-permanente meertjes waarvan de vorm voortdurend wordt bepaald door de wind het de getijden.  Het is een heerlijke plek om te zonnen en te zwemmen maar er zijn ook diverse leuke wandelingen. Wij kampeerden op camping Villaggio Marinello van waaruit je zo het strand op loopt.

25. Camastra

Klein pittoresk dorpje gelegen op een rots langs de noordkust. Camastra is het pottenbakkerscentrum van het eiland en overal in het stadje vind je winkels met kleurrijke aardewerk. Wanneer je een wandeling maakt let dan ook op de straatschilderingen. Her en der vind je beschilderde straattegels.

27. Aspra

Vissersdorpje niet ver van Palermo. We hebben er slechts een korte tussenstop gemaakt maar we vonden het een leuk plaatsje. De gezellige promenade, een populair strand en de vele vissersbootjes geven het een leuke sfeer.  Hou je van ijs? Bezoek dan Gelateria Artik; lekkerste ijs ooit gegeten!!  

1. Palermo

Palermo is the capital of the Island and for us the place were we arrive by ferry. Palermo has two sides. Beautiful Gothic buildings, busy street markets and more restraurants than you can count but it is also very crowded an very polluted. The city feels like one big traffic jam. The drive from the harbour to the circular road took us almost 2 hours. It for sure is not on our list of most beautiful cities. For us a very interesting place was the No Mafia memorial. An exposition of pictures, some very horrible, and stories where you can see and read how the maffia controlled the island and its inhabitants.

2. Sferracavallo

Small village not far from Palermo. We stayed on campsite Degli Ulivi. A comfortable place with a bakery just around the corner, a train station from where you can take a train to downtown Palermo and a small boulevard with some restaurants. Sferracavallo has no highlights or special buildings and still, we liked the place.  It is small with a pleasant atmosphere. A good starting point for visiting Palermo but also escaping the crowds. But note that you will not be the only one wanting to camp here. The campsite is quite small so making reservations is needed. We saw many people being send away.

4. San Vito lo Campo and surroundings

San Vito lo Capo is a popular tourist resort on the north western tip of the island. Just south of here you will find camping village El Bahira. A nice campsite close to the beach from where you have a great view of the sunset. From the campsite you can also make a few nice walks. Nature lovers can visit the nearby Zingaro Nature Reserve.

5. Erice

At the top of a 750 meter high hill lies Erice, a charasteristic medieval village. Within the city walls it is a maze of small streets and squares, beautiful monuments, old churches and buildings and the castle of Venus. To get there you can take the cable car from Trapani but it is also very accessible by road. If you want to drive up there you have a few routes to choose from. Coming form the north you can take the SR1. This road has some very steep hairpins. We took this road on our way up. When you are driving a heavy car it may want to drive uphill instead of downhill. Coming from the south you can choose between SP31 and SP3. The SP31 is most used route and the least steep.

6. Salt Flats

Western Sicily is inextricably linked to salt production. The most famous salt flats can be found around Trapani and Marsala. Basins met salt water, heaps of salt and wind mills are characteristic for the landscape here.  

7. Marsala

Quite a large city on the western tip of the island. The city is known for its famous Marsala wine. The old city, although not that big, is worth a visit. We camped at  Lylibeo village. A nice spot just outside the city.

8. Selinunte

Selinunte is the Italian name for the old Greek city Selinous; a large ancient city that knew great wealth. Most structures are in ruins and just a pile of stones. But a few buildings are beautiful restored. When you visit the first Sunday of the entry is for free.

9. Turkse trappen

Scala dei Turchi, is the Italian name for this natural phenomenon and it literally means "stairs of the Turkish". It refers to the Saracen pirates that once raided the Sicilian coast. The cliffs shaped by wind and water resemble a chaircase and are made of marl, rock made of lime and clay. The spectacular white rocks stand out beautiful against the azure blue sea.

10. Valley of the Temples

A very large archeological (Unesco) site and even one of the significant sites worldwide. Across the area are various special remains. The most impressive is the Concordia temple. It is in an exceptionally good condition. For a visit you can enter via two entrances. The Northwestern entrance is located closest to the Concordia temple.  We camped at Camping Valle dei Templi. Although it is conveniently closed the the archelogical site we would not recommend the place.

11. Ragusa

12. Camping Scarabeo

Ragusa is a beautiful city and definitely worth a visit. Especially Ragusa Ibla, the historical area is really special. For an impressive entry take the road from the modern city center to Ragusa Ibla. It is a short, steep and narrow road with some sharp hairpins and an amazing view. We camped at camping Scarabeo. The campsite is expensive but also very clean and with a very nice location near the sea. Recommended!  

13. Scicli

A charming city with many historic buildings in baroque style.

14. La Fornace Penna

A piece of industrial archeological heritage. Near Sampieri you will find an iconic ruin of an old tuna factory.  

15. Spiaggia delle Correnti & Camping Captain

Spiaggia delle Correnti means "beach of currents". A name that refers to the Mediterranian Sea and Ionian Sea that converge here at this southern most tip of the island.  

When you sail the to south from here you will come ashore in Africa. It is a windy but very nice place with a beautiful view of the sunset, a nice beach and a few beach bars.  Off the coast is a small island with a still active light house. You can reach the island via a stone passage that depending on the tides is fully or partially submerged. If you are planning to visit this area your own transport is a must as there is no public transport going this way. We camped at Camping Captain. A very large campsite but in October we did not had to share it with many people. Although not a very luxory campsite the location and views are very much worth a stay.

16. Vendicari Nature Reserve

Nature Reserve rich in flora and fauna among which lots of birds, a beautiful beach with good snorkling spots and the iconic remains of an old tuna factory.  Nearby the entrance, in the shade of big lemon trees, you will find a very nice restaurant that serves fresh juices and great sandwiches. We camped at Camping Sabbiadoro. A beautiful, comfortable and very clean campsite located next to a nice beach. The only down side; a very unfriendly owner.

17. Syracuse

It was once one of the richest cities of the Greek emprire and according to many nowadays one of the most beautiful cities of Sicily. It really deserves it's place on the World heritage list of Unesco. Highlight for us was the historic center located on Ortiga, a small peninsula connected to the mainland with a few bridges. This part is a maze of small streets, beautiful squares, historic buildings and impressive remains of ancient times. Serious drawback of all this beauty are the huge crowds that flood this place. To ensure you will find parking space, it is best to go as early as possible.

18. Camping Mokambo

Camping Mokambo is a good location for a visit to Mount Etna. From the campsite you have an amazing view of the vulcano and opposite is a pebble stone beach.  

19. Mount Etna

Etna is one of largest still actie volcanos of Europe and consists of multiple craters. Five of the craters are still active today. Smoke rises up from these craters daily and sometimes there is a small erruption and lava fountains can be seen. There are different ways to visit the volcano and most hotels and campsites offer trips. Do you have your own car then you can choose between 2 routes. Etna Nord and Etna Sud. Etna Sud is the most touristic side and also the place where you find the cable car. This cable car leaves from Rifugio Sapienza and takes you all the way up to 2500 meter. There guides and 4x4 trucks will be waiting to take you to 3000 meters. The last stretch is by foot. Depending on the circumstances the guides will guide you on a short a bit further up to have a great of view of the volcano and the lunar landschap. Despite the short distance it was a strenuous walk. The altitude, lose gravel and clouds of sulphur made us halt to catch our breath regularly. We are happy we did not got tricked in booking one of the longer hikes they offer. A combination ticket for the cable car, 4x4 truck and guided walk can be purchased an the ticket office from the cable car station. Start early if you want to avoid the big crowds. One thing is certain; you will not be the only one up there. But do not let it put you off; Etna is an amazing exprience and the view breathtaking. And if you still can't get enough there are many smaller craters and lava caves to explore.  

20. Alcantara kloof

About an hour from Etna you will find Gole Alcantara Parco Botanico e Geologico, an nature reserve where you can find the unique Alcantara gorge. After an eruption of one of side craters of Mount Etna, about 2400 BC, the valley, home to the Alcantara river, was covered by a layer of lava. An earthquake broke the  lava and a 500 meter gorge opened up. Up to today the Alcantara river still flows through the gorge. It is a beautiful area surrounded by high cliffs of basalt, unique rock formations and cristal clear water.  You can make a walk here but there are also more sportive activities like body rafting. The get down into the gorge you can either take the stairs or the elevator. For the night we stayed at camping Almoetia. Located in a quiet area. Although not very fancy we really liked the place.

21. Taormina

Taormina is amongst the cities that compete to be Sicily's most beautiful city and this is for a good reason. It is located on a hill from where you have a great view and within the city walls there is an amazing old city car-free centre. The old city is a maze of characteristic streets, medieval houses and a historical amphitheatre. If you want to visit the theatre you definitely need patience. The queue was so long we did not even tried. Taormina was the bussiest town we visited. You could hardly walk normal in the streets. To get to the car-free centre you can take the cable car or take the bus that will take you from the parking and drop you off at the old gate.

22. Messina

Largest city in the Northeastern part of the island. This area is closest to mainland Italy. We did not visited the city itself. However we did intended to stay somewhere in the area but in the end we left. We did not liked it so much. After seeing so many great places this area was a bit dissapointing. Also there was not much scenic beauty.

23. Capo di Milazzo - Camping Riva Smeralda

Terrace campsite on the peninsula Capo di Milazzo. The campsite has diving school and especially after sunset you have a amazing view on mainland Italy. Surrounded by cristal clear waters, a few beautiful beaches and a nice castle the peninsula is definitley worth a visit. We camped as camping Riva Smeralda. Despite the amazing views the campsite itself felt like pas glorie.

24. Marinello lagoon

The Marinello lagoon is a beautiful nature reserve. It consists of a small piece of which sand that devides the sea from a shallow azure blue bay. Just off the beach, separated by stretches of pebble and at the foot of a steep cliff there are a few semi-permanent lakes shaped by the wind and the tides. It is a nice spot for swimming and enjoying the sun; but there are also some nice walks you can do. We camped at campsite  Villaggio Marinello. It is located directly next to the beach.

25. Camastra

Small picturesk village located on a rock along the northern coast. Camaster is the ceramic centre and all across town you will found shops with all kinds of colorful ceramics. While walking through town also look down for some nice '"street art". Spread across town are some painted flagstones.

26. Cefalu

Cefalu is beautiful and one of our favorite cities of the island. The old town, a Unesco worldheritage site, is a labyrinth of small streets, old churches, squares, a bathhouse and facades with vistas of the sea and beaches.  Like elsewhere on the island it is recommended to visit early if you hate spending hours searching for a parking lot as one thing is certain you won't be alone here. Cefalu is very touristic and over crowded. If you stay at campsite Sanfilippo or its neighbour Camping Costa Ponente you can also leave your car and take the bus that leaves for the city centre right in front of these two campsites. We stayed at  Camping Sanfilippo. A beautiful, well maintained campsite with a private bay. Very recommended.

27. Aspra

Fishing village not far from Palermo. We only stopped here for a short break but we loved the atmosphere. There is a popular beach, a small boulevard and many colorful fishing boats lying ashore. If you love icecream try Gelateria Artik; best icecream ever!!
